Clever Holiday Gifts

I am mulling over hostess and cousin gifts as the holiday season officially arrives with little to no inspiration. I really just want to sit around and work on what I want to work on. Fortunately, Jennifer Haywood- Ackerman, creator of the CraftSanity podcast, also has a great blog. Today she is talking about these fun napkins. The folding is the key to making these look great and she includes the directions for this and another project.

BettyNinja Crafts On

I ran across BettyNinja’s Blog while [still] looking through the Denyse Schmidt pool on Flickr. I really like these two scrap quilts. She has foundation pieced them and I like the way she has created diamonds using the layout. Go Betty!

More From the Bag Lady

A long time ago there was a discussion on a Yahoogroup about being a bag lady. Not the kind you see on the street begging for money, but someone who loves all kinds of bags.
Tote bags
Handbags
Purses
Laptop bags
Briefcases
Backpacks

You name it. I love them. I am also a bag lady, as you might have noticed. Not that I am not particular about the bags that I buy or make, but havingg the right bag at the right time makes all the difference.

This site has a list of of many free (and some NOT free) patterns for a variety of bags that you can make. Some of them might make great Christmas or holiday gifts.

    New Inspiration Source

I found a link somewhere for a blog of blogs. After adding this blog to the list, I scrolled through the offerings and found a blog for Piece O’Cake. One of the great parts is that they have a show and tell page where they post customer photos. What a great source of inspiration! I am including a few for you for your viewing pleasure.

    I Did Not Attend Houston

Nor have I ever attended the International Quilt Festival in Houston, but I would like to sometime. Depending on life, finances and the state of the universe it could be as soon as next year. In order to attend Virtual Houston, head over to the QA blog for some entertaining photos and commentary by Pokey Bolton.

I was pleased to see that she has a picture of Pamela Allen, doing what she does best: showing off her style (though she is a pretty great teacher as well).

I also love the Caroline and Co booth. I wonder if I could paint one of my rooms with those orange stripes; people may rebel and/or develop a sudden, recurring bouts of insomnia. I do like the cheerfulness, though.

    Resolution Goes Bad

After a particularly “less than stellar” day at work that produced a lot of animosity for my computer, I resolved not to turn on my home computer.

My computer is off. All good.

iTunes, however, is not on my computer and I decided to update my library while I supervised websurfing by certain individuals. In the course of updating iTunes, I came across Craft Sanity, a podcast by Jennifer Ackerman-Haywood. TFQ had mentioned a particular episode to me over the weekend and I went looking for it. I wasn’t able to figure out how to download one episode, so I went to her site and saw these beautiful photos of colors and fabric. Now, here I am blogging. Sigh.

    Enjoy the colors!

    Candy Corn to Blue

In a recent post I told you about some blue fabrics that had caught my attention. I have been working my way through a couple of different groups of photos on Flickr (the Denyse Schmidt Pool and IQFH). I saw this quilt in the DSP and thought that it might make a good pattern for those blue fabrics. I’ll have to dig out the dimensions from the DS book I have. If the pattern isn’t in there, I don’t think I really need one anyway.

    Vicki’s Gorgeous Colors

I finally tracked down Vicki’s blog. Vicki is a long time reader of Artquiltmaker blog. I was pleased to find images of such gorgeous fabrics as I scrolled through her recent posts. The other fabrics she shows in the same post are wonderful as well. I also really like the words that she adds to the image. I’ll have to put that on my to-do list to learn.
